Image2Layer is an AI-powered tool designed to separate flat images, such as JPG, PNG, or WebP files, into multiple independently editable layers. The tool identifies visual elements like subjects, objects, text-like graphics, shadows, and backgrounds, dividing them into up to 10 distinct layers. It also reconstructs the background areas hidden behind foreground objects, allowing users to move or remove elements without leaving empty gaps in the canvas. Once the separation process is complete, users can export their assets as layered PSD files, transparent PNGs, or a combined ZIP package. These exports are compatible with various graphic design software, including Photoshop, Photopea, GIMP, Affinity Photo, and Krita. The tool supports input files up to 24 MB with a minimum resolution of 512 by 512 pixels, generating outputs at approximately 0.4 megapixels. Common applications for the platform include preparing character assets for animation, isolating product shots and shadows for e-commerce marketing, separating typography and graphics in poster layouts, and recovering editable layers from flattened files.
